The “Let’s Give Arizona a Hand Up Award” will be presented at the upcoming Champions of Change Awards through a partnership between AZ Big Media and Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona. Finalists for the award were determined based on how their company’s corporate giving and community volunteer activities are building a brighter future for Arizona nonprofits and making a direct and quantifiable impact on our communities. The Champions of Change Awards will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024. Each day leading up to the event, we will preview one finalist for the Let’s Give Arizona a Hand Up Award. Arizona Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks are dedicated to the power of sports and the impact it has on our youth, which is why, over the past 25 years, they’ve invested $20 million to support Arizona youth sports programs. Just this past year, they celebrated 10 years of their Youth Jersey Program, which outfits over 60,000 youth softball and baseball players in 119 leagues across the state. Any little league or youth sports organization is encouraged to apply to receive brand new, custom Diamondbacks jerseys for their players at no cost to the organization. The program allows more kids to get involved in the sport by decreasing, sometimes even eliminating, the cost to play, allowing for organizations to use the extra funds to upgrade their fields and equipment and much more. In it’s 10th year, the organization is proud to grow this program each season so more kids can enjoy the sport and learn the importance of comradery, and team work. The D-backs Youth Jersey Program is the largest of its kind across any professional sports league and has because a key component of the Diamondbacks community strategy.
