OAS says 'serious questions' remain over Honduras election

TEGUCIGALPA, Dec 17 (Reuters) - "Serious questions" still surround the results of Honduras' presidential elections last month, the secretary general of the Organization of American States, Luis Almagro, said on Twitter on Sunday.

Honduras has been roiled by political instability in the wake of the Nov. 26 vote, with Conservative incumbent President Juan Orlando Hernandez leading center-left Salvador Nasralla, a TV star, by 1.53 percentage points, according to the official count. The tally has been questioned by the two main opposition parties and a wide swathe of the diplomatic corps.

Almagro said that the issue would be addressed shortly via a press conference. (Reporting by Gustavo Palencia; Writing by Anthony Esposito, Editing by Rosalba O'Brien)
